I wrote this article for Mibba News;

Quote :
The September 11th, 2001 devastating and horrific terror attacks that killed a total of 2,974 people, excluding the 19 airplane hijackers, occurred 7 years ago today.

Two planes (Flight 11 to the North Tower, Flight 175 to the South Tower) crashed into and demolished the Twin Towers that formerly stood tall in New York City, killing the majority of the innocent civilians. Another hijacked plane crashed into the World Trade Center, while another plane, Flight 93, which was believed to of been heading towards the White House, was selflessly taken down by the passengers in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, so no one but the passengers were killed. Many more people were killed from the debris that came from the collapsing towers, and 6,000+ people were injured.

The masterminds behind the attacks were Osama Bin Laden, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Ramzi Binalshibh, Abu Turab Al-Urduni and Mohammed Atef.

On this day, many school's were asked to have a moment of silence during the times the planes crashed, between 8:46 AM to 10:28 AM. President Bush called for a moment of silence in Washington DC as well, and Republican presidential candidate John McCain plans on visiting the crash site of Shanksville, Pennsylvania in the near future.

Every American remembers where they were the moment the news spread of the attacks. Whether you experienced confusion, terror, sadness, or anger, you knew every other person in the United States was feeling the same emotions as you. We all felt powerless; there is nothing you can do in a situation like this. What we did and will continue to do is remember the victims of these attacks, and keep their memories near and dear to our hearts. We will not let their spirits perish into the rubble like their bodies did. Every anniversary of the horrific terrorist attacks will be remembered, and a somber ceremony will always take place in America.

Rest in peace, 9-11 victims. You will be sorely missed.
