Two Oceans

When two oceans separate us from each other,

Agnostic Hill

He was the devil, I was the grace.
I cleaned up myself before I got dirt on my face.
I spent so many years looking for the right place,
To hang my head and abandon my faith.

The sky was the limit, but the cave was so cold.
I broke out of the habit and did as I was told.
I threw away my opinions and lust to be bold,
and handed away my soul and saw it get sold.

My behavior was recklass and I failed the test,
I guess I'll never score better than second best.
The sliver of bitterness, I know I'll never forget,
As I try to right the wrongs and fix the regrets.

As God as my savior, I never felt fine,
I became a martyr, infidel, deceiver, swine.
Heresy made sense after nine bottles of wine,
And a spot on Agnostic Hill is where I reside.

My compulsion to act was justified, I say,
But most fanatics figure it's just my devilish ways,
I'll be whoever I choose to be, day by day,
On Agnostic Hill, right by the blistering bay.
