Based on Sept. 11th, 2001

You're not in this alone
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go, go on record
Be the first to say I'm sorry
Hear me out
I am like you in similar ways
I have seen love and hate
Greed and agony
I have seen the worst life can bring that a life of mine could possibly see
But on September 11, 2001
I was not prepared for what happened on that early morning
When 19 men ruined 8,000 peoples' lives
2,974 dead and 6,000 family members distraught
And millions in complete shock
And if you take me down
Or would you lay me out
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now
When everyone was watching in New York
Or on their television sets at home
When the film caught the second plane hit
And the building burst into flames
And people jumped out because they had to choose their last descion in their lives:
Burn in flame or jump to your demise
Most jumped because it was faster and less painful
Thats why we all saw hundreds of bodys fall out
Bodys falling and falling
Some even on fire
We walk in single file
We light our rails and punch our time
Ride escalators colder than a cell
This broken city sky like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here
Thats when I was shoved and pushed
Kicked and punched
People scrambeling to get their cell phones
And call the ones they love
Or just to escape the paranoia and choas
But no matter how far you were away from New York
The paranoia and choas would cling to you
And never let go
I heard the sirens
And felt the vibrations in the Earth
I felt the tears on my face
Hot tears of knowing what happened
Hot tears of seeing our leader tell us what happened
Our leader saying it was inevitable
And that it would probably happen again
And in this moment we can't close the lids on burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with friends we know like fallout vapors
Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun, scorched and black
But, for the first time in my life
I didn't feel so alone
Every where around me, people were mourning
It was okay to cry
It was normal to break down
It was alright to scream and pound your fist
I was okay
After the attack
A few hours after when I called my father
He said my mother was on the 82nd floor for business
And that there is no way she survived
I realized I had watched her flaming body fall
And not even know
It reaches in and tears your flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart
That's if you've still got one that's left inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw, can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better, let's give them one more reason now
Then the memorial service
For 2,974 peoples lives thats were taken
I saw her name
And I wept
Like that thousands of people did as well
And we held eachothers hands
Even though we did not know eachother;
We connected
Brothers and sister
Mothers and fathers
Daughters and sons
Neighbors and friends
Gathered together
To mourn for their losses
This broken city sky like butane on my skin
Stolen from my eyes
The lives of those people who were around me
Had their lives ripped apart
And then spat on by 19 people
19 people who will never have happiness
19 people who don't know what love is
19 people who have no respect
19 people without a soul or heart
19 people without anything to live for
19 people who are damned to burn in Hell
For what they have done.
..Hello Angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here...
