I agree Sarah.
McCain reminds me WAY TOO MUCH of president Bush. The way he talks and the way he looks. It's just going to be the same BULLSHIT all over again if he wins.
Here's a little preview of what Obama believes in and what he'll do as a president vs. McCain's just in case some of you don't really know a lot about them.....
THE ENIRONMENT:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The US is accountable for about a quarter of the world's greenhouse-gas emissions.
WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND:
OBAMA: Obama proposes cutting carbon-dioxide emissions through a cap-and-trade system that would auction off credits to big companies, making them pay for the CO2 they produce. He also plans to invest $150 billion in clean-energy technologies and reduce oil consumption 35 percent by 2030.
MCCAIN: McCain has pledged to end US reliance on foreign oil and advocates a global effort to keep pollution from developing countries in check. He wants to limit carbon and greenhouse-gas emissions by exploring safe nuclear energy, and he would also implement a cap-and-trade system.
THE ECONOMY:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The US economy is looking bleak: Housing prices have fallen sharply, unemployment and inflation rates are on the rise, and food and gas prices have skyrocketed.
WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND:
OBAMA: Obama would repeal tax cuts for the upper class and raise capital-gains taxes. He's also save the middle class an estimated $80 million a year, through, amony other things, a $1000-per-family credit and by eliminated taxes for senior workers making less than $50,000 a year.
MCCAIN: McCain's economic plan favors big businesses and the wealthy (obviously *rolls eyes*) He'd cut corporate taxes and provide tax breaks for households with incomes above $250,000. (okay, that makes no sense whatsoever...) But he'd also lower taces for the middle class by repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax, saving families nearly $60 billion a year. (yeah...just throw that in to cover up what you're doing for the wealthy. "oh...we'd better just throw in the $60 billion a year to middle class so they don't feel left out! -__-)
THE WAR IN IRAQ (This is a really big concern):
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The American death toll is above 4,000, the cost of war is past the $600 billion mark, and nearly 160,000 US troops are currently stationed in Iraq. (why waste $600 billion dollars on the war when you could use it to solve other problems in the US. A big one: POVERTY.)
WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND:
OBAMA: Obama, who opposed the war from the start, would immediately begin a phased redeployment of troops that would bting home one to two combat brigades a month within his first year in office, in an attempt to pressure the Iraqis to start autonomously settling their differences.
MCCAIN: McCain voted to authorize the Bush adminisration's invasion in 2002 and also supported the 2007 troop "surge" (doesn't surprise me). And he intends to stay the course: McCain has NO PLANS to remove American forces until stability is achieved.
HEALTH CARE:
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The US spends more on health care than any other country, but an estimated 16 percent of it's citizens are UNINSURED.
WHERE THE CANDIDATES STAND:
OBAMA: Obama wants to make coverage MORE AFFORDABLE and, ultimately UNIVERSAL. He would require that all CHILDREN have insurance, which he would help pay for by NOT RENEWING the Bush administration's tax cuts for the WEALTHY. He'd also require most businesses to provide coverage for their employees and would develop an insurance-purchasing pool so that people could choose from competing plans.
MCCAIN: McCain has pledged to make health care affordable by giving annual tac credits to individuals and families. He's also build an open market in which people could choose from different providers, which would create cometition and thus lower prices.
To me, Obama sounds a hell of a lot better than McCain in my opinion.
MOST families in the US are having trouble with taxes. As far as I know MOST of my family has a hard time even keeping their house and are behind on a lot of payments. I hate having to see my WHOLE family suffer because of the way the economy is right now and I WILL NOT support McCain in his "Providing tax breaks for households with incomes above $250,000" WTF? That makes NO sense to me whatsoever. Why would we want to give the wealthy even MORE money, when there are an estimated 37 MILLION (think about it this way. That is an estimated population of Canada) are STAVING, are HOMELESS, are STRUGGLING TO SURVIVE, people who actually WORK HARD who DESERVE a BREAK!!!!
My dad works all day, he's a mechanic and he makes $22 an hour and he comes home with dirt and mud all over him. his fingers are stained a grey-black color from all the work he's done over the years, and he's tired. I hate to see him come home with a bad attitude because of that, and I don't blame him! He's been working since the age of 16, never once had he not have a job, he has to lift heavy objecs, work in horrible environments and gets brusies and scrapes and really bad burns from LP Gas leaks. Even though my mom works and earns $10 dollars and hour and my dad $22, and yet we (and i'm sure millions of other families) are STILL stuggling and McCain wants to REWARD the wealthy? The people who sit on their asses infront of their large entertainment system in an AIRCONDITIONED house with tons of of "toys" they have like multiple cars, 100+ PAIRS OF SHOES, and lots of other things? I'm not saying that all the wealthy are asswholes but it doesn't make any sense to me at all to give them money that they waste on things like 100+ pairs of shoes. It's just ridiculous.
And I'm sure all the US troops families don't agree with McCain intending to keep the US Troops in Iraq. When one of his loved ones maybe becomes a troop and DIES because of that, then MAYBE he'll understand. Millions of mother's and father's have to see their son lying in a coffin because of the war, they have to see their son's name on the TV screen when the News announces their death. I can't even imagine what it's like to see your son die before you.
And notice in the enviorment section in McCain's how it says "safe nuclear energy" and notice how it says the word "exploring". How SURE are they that the nuclear energy is infact safe for the enviornment?
So yeah, you can see how pissed off i am at McCain.
Obama should win. Obama NEEDS to win.
And racists need to get a life. What do they care about more? Their taxes and finances, or a black president? Seriously, this isn't the 1940's anymore. They're skin tone is just a different color! It's just a color! Stop the bullshit because in the end, if McCain wins, the world is going down and then you wouldn't care about being racist anymore would you?
